TVT's First Rant About Stuff He Hopes People Care About

So I've decided to start blogging. After looking far and wide for a section on PE2K where I could post a thread full of rants, I ran into this question: "Wait. Aren't blogs the same thing as what I'm trying to do?" So I searched Free blogging, found this as #2, and signed up. So now I'm going to rant about Stuff You Probably Don't Care About But I'm Posting Anyway. Rawr.

Now I'm especially concerned with the state of affairs on Pokemon Elite 2000, a popular pokemon news site with a forum that you wouldn't expect from the site. You see, in its glory days, PE2K was hosted on Proboards.com, which took the site down because of one tiny detail: Proboards policy states that all websites must contain ONLY English content. However, the forums had an inactive board entitled: "Mixed Foreign Languages". Proboards shut us down. There, I was a bit of a n00b, sort of like someone like, say, rayquaza69. With a more grammatical, yet more embarrassing, username. The Mounatin Gardener, showing my allegiance to Team Flora (A WAR team I decided to join because I was obsessed with avoiding what everybody else did) and a non-war group known as Team Regi. Members like Fair, Scott, Raik, HKim, Tidus, Figgy, Ace, Neo, Daniella, and Syrus composed the forum regulars, and I, CuteMew(otherwise known as Pure, Jess, or CM), and Marco were the group of friends that everybody knew next to the regulars. Back then, pages of unstarted RPs littered the board, since I had no respect for any property but my own. But anyway, PE2K was a small, thriving community with a mature (with the exception of myself) membergroup.

That changed once Proboards died. Once VBulletin, a quality hoster that cost money, became PE2K's hoster, Ryan, the admin, began to advertise. And so n00bs, looking for Ebay and Google deals on games they wanted and with no respect for any rules, came flooding in. It started with a few people with decent brains but bad usernames. Gradually, more advertising opened up, supplying a steady stream of front page hits for Ryan. And a steady stream of people with no respect for rules, their own appearance, or contributing to the forum. You'd be surprised how many pokemon fans out there who are TOTAL IDIOTS. So anyway, these people came and did whatever the heck they wanted. This wouldn't be such a problem if more than half of the aforementioned members had realized the forums were not gone for good. So without all the vets and people who kept order, PE2K became SPPF. And you know what? I've seen people who treat chatrooms, SPPF, and PE2K as the exact same thing. So in short, PE2K became no safe place for me. So, with a bit of sig searching and Googling, I found PMF inc.

PMF inc, or the Pokemon Mutation Factory, incorporated, was a respectable spriting forum. It was organized into Catmods, Coadmins, the Admin, Mods, Supermods, Members, and Spriters. Spriter rank was a recognition of above-average skill as a spriter. At that time, the Spriter test consisted of a member requesting a test, a mod giving an assigned mix, and the member doing the mix, submitting, and being tested for pass/failing. Before I became a Spriter, the test changed. There was then a set of sprites every tester had to do, instead of individual assignment, so the testers could get context. I passed with a butt-ugly Electric Solrock reelement. Had to be some kind of fluke. After being a spriter for a while, restests rolled around, and while Tabbz (my cousin, who I introduced to PMF) passed again with flying colors. Later, the recruiting system came in, and Tabbz recruited me again. Passing, I got back to the spamming area, PMF's hangout. So now I'm a respected member of the community there even though a lot of people think I'm an uberchristian opinionated jerk. But most people ignore that opinion (and me) and go on with their forum lives without caring.

So there. There's my first blog post. I'll probably put up more later, since I bookmarked this and am not likely to forget it anytime soon. Any comments may be posted or emailed to me. (If you know your party's extension, please dial or enter it at any time. I don't want spam.)
